Free vs Fixed TimeBlocks

Category: General by: Gijs Nelissen

We've updated our timeblock system. You now have the option to add Free Blocks to your TimeSheet.

Free blocks vs Fixed blocks

Free blocks are basically timeblocks without a stop or start moment. This allows you to easily add new blocks with a total value. Another advantage is that you can add 'negative' blocks. (e.g. for a discount.)

Screenshot with free (green clock icon) and fixed (red clock icon) blocks:

Update: We've also updated our visual timesheet layout. Blocks that span multiple days will be split into blocks spread over several days. This will only occur in the calendar timesheet itself, don't worry we won't be splitting up your timeblocks, we implemented these changes to make sure you can clearly see that a block is spanning multiple days..

New Feature : Excel Export

Category: General by: Gijs Nelissen

We are proud to announce the 'export to excel' feature. From now on you can analyse your employees timesheets offline, just use the 'export to excel' button below the timesheet listing to receive an excel of your records.

export timesheet to excel

Keep in mind that this features keeps the current filtering in account,
that means if you are looking at data of employee "John Doe" you will
receive an excel time sheet with records of this user only.

Employee Timesheet in excel

Please note the generated excel files are in open office format, that means you need Microsoft Office 2007+. I know i know, alot of you are using older versions of the office suite, that's why we will be adding support for older excel versions. But if you already want to open the current spreadsheets use a decent an office suite like openoffice, star office or Google Docs. It's totally free (unlike other office suites).

We'll be adding support for multiple cultures (format the date/time just you want it), adding formulas for totals and improve the layout in the upcoming days

Multiple Cultures & Timezones

Category: General by: Gijs Nelissen

A web based timesheet used everywhere in the world

Because trackmypeople is a web based timesheet application we get signups from all around the globe. Recently alot of our users suggested us to improve the localised support. For example the calendar timesheet overview should show time in the preferred format, based on the user's culture.

timezone & culture settings

That's why we improved the support for different cultures/languages & timezones. Go to your personal profile to update/correct your timezone & culture settings.

Why would you need my timezone ?

To make sure all your "clock punching" actions are stored correctly (based on your timezone) we need to know your timezone. Based on the timezone setting we convert all your start/stop dates to a central unified format. So if your blocks have a strange offset (they start/stop one or multiple hours different from your computers time) make sure to check your timezone settings (in your personal profile).

Once you have correctly stored your personal timezone you should never have to update this again.
