To provide you, and our existing customers with good support we decided to start using ZenDesk for all our “support desk” needs. From now on you will find a nice little “support” or “feedback” button on the left side of each page. Clicking this link allows you to quickly ask a question, contact support or tell us about a feature you would love to see integrated in trackmypeople.
Next to that we have a growing knowledge base (in fact it’s a forum). A rock solid bug/issue follow-up system integrated with all emails coming in over at support@trackmypeople.com. I must tell you we are pretty fast on answering your questions.
Don’t believe me ? Create a ticket or Report a bug, and see for yourself !
FAQ, knowledge base, support
TrackMyPeople has been in business for a while now, and the least we can say is that is has been an incredible adventure all the way.
Thank you all once again for the tremendous feedback. Rest assured that your emails, bug tickets and feedback is being read and taken into account, thanks !
So, what’s new ?
Multi-Platform Time Tracking widget
We released an “Adobe Air” widget allowing you to easily track your time right from your desktop. Have a look at a video we made showing off the time tracking functionality
.
You can download the widget (and some others) from the extras page.
Pricing & Plans available
As of the first of May 2010, TrackMyPeople is now considered ‘production ready’ (I avoided the word ‘stable’). Exactly for that same reason we think it’s time to start charging for our service. We opted for a ‘freemium’ model, allowing you to benefit from most TrackMyPeople features without having to pull out that credit card.
Have a look at our “Plans & Pricing”, and let us know what you think !
Complete Rewrite
As we ran into some performance issues we decided to rewrite TMP from scratch. That was a huge job but we are now on a maintainable & optimised code base. For our users this means improved loading times !
New functionality
A ‘limited’ list of new functionality, readily available from within your account
- User & Tracker Dashboard
- Day/Week/Month calendars everywhere (on tracker & user pages)
- Quick Day/Week time entry
- Improved tracker tree : quickly setup your company structure
- Mass Edit timeblocks
- Exporting Capabilities
Thank you !
Last but not least, we would like to use the opportunity given by this email to thank you all for the tremendous feedback you’ve given us over the last year: exhaustive and mercy-less bug reports, amazing suggestions, super-relevant remarks and deeply hearthwarming encouragements.
Thanks to all of you who helped make TrackMyPeople the lovely experience it has now hopefully become.
feature, pricing, support, upgrade
We just published our new pricing. Check out the plans page and see if anything fits for you.

That’s right a “free plan” ! We decided to allow people to use our system for free, with almost all features a premium member has.
Sign up now, and see what the fuss is about.
features, plans, pricing, support
After our upgrade, as mentioned here, the site is back up and running.
Although we have thoroughly cleaned our code, some bugs still may occur… But don’t worry: if they occur, we’ll be right on ‘em.
You may still use our bug tracker to report any bugs.
Hopefully it’ll stay quite
PS: some features have not yet been ported to the new system, but they we’ll be in the coming days, so no bug tickets about that please…
migration, support, upgrade
We’re performing infrastructural changes tomorrow at 9AM Brussels time (what time is that for you?). TrackMyPeople will be unavailable for approximately 1-2 hours while we make some upgrades to our service infrastructure as well as update the system.
Our core framework will be updated to a new version and we have extended/refactored some of the base TrackMyPeople code:
- optimized page loads;
- optimized queries & query counts;
- some bugfixes;
- switched from scriptaculous to jQuery;
which should lead to a faster and better experience
Note: some of the current functionality will not be available for a few days, since we are still working on these:
- invite users/friends;
- graphs;
- automated reports;
See you tomorrow.
bug fix, flexibility, improvement, migration, navigation, support, upgrade
If there was one thing our site was lacking, it would have to be a search bar. Until now…
We’ve included a search bar in the top navigation for the public site,

and in the footer navigation for the secured backend,

which will help you find:
- For the public frontend (www.trackmypeople.com):
- Frequently Asked Questions
- API Guidelines
- General Documentation
- For the secured backend (secure.trackmypeople.com):
- Frequently Asked Questions
- Bug Tickets

api, FAQ, new feature, search, support
Yesterday we upgraded the trackmypeople system to version 2. Next to the fact we redid the entire layout of all public pages alot has changed “under the hood”.

We did alot of “fixes” on the backend side aswell, keep an eye on this blog for more specific information.
new feature, support, update, user interface
If you are an active trackmypeople user you will notice we change alot of things, on a daily base. For those of you who did not notice those changes, a brief summary :
- User Profile : Edit / Information : We totally reworked this functionality. You can now easily update your (and your employees/contractors) profile with some advanced validation/error correction
- Tracker Edit / Information : Editing trackers (can be companies/departements/tasks or projects) never was this easy. Use one of the information tabs to get more information about a tracker
- Set your project (tracker) color. Each use can now assign his own color. These colors will be used when browsing through the calendar interface
- Create a user : Easily create users/employees and assign him/her to the trackers you want. This page will automatically send an email to the "created" user
- Calendar Tabs. We changed the calendar interface to support 'tabs'. From now on you can switch between day/week/month view without having to change page
- Updated the "MyTrackers" page
- Fixed various layout issues
- Timezone & Culture detection (when editing profileà
- Persistent User Login : Login once, check the "remember me" checkbox and stay logged in for the next 30 days (only on the same computer)
- …
Login to your account and try all those new features, or join us now, while trackmypeople still entirely free !
company, flexibility, https, migration, nested set, roles, secure, support, system update, time tracking, trackers, update
Today we updated the TrackMyPeople system. You'll note this immediately when you log in.
The backend part of the site has been seperated from the public (main) content and is totally secured.
PLEASE NOTE: The URL for the backend has changed as well to https://secure.trackmypeople.com, so you need to update your widget (all OS's), which will connect to the new URL.
The system has been refactored to allow greater flexibilty. This way it is (will be) possible to:
- nest trackers (previously known as projects and companies)
- track time for any tracker, meaning you can also track time for a company
- assign multiple (and soon custom) roles per tracker per user; detailed definition and permission explanation will follow soon
- new (predefined) role types: employee, reporter (soon also freelancer, contracter, client, etc…)
We also migrated all current projects and companies to this new tracker system. The attendance project is no longer shared, but personalised. Each user now has a default tracker, which we guessed during the migration process.
We followed these rules:
- users with a single company (owned or member) have this company as default tracker.
- users with multiple companies now have a new Task named "Attendance"
- users without any companies or projects also have this new task
We migrated all attendance block as well (to match these new trackers). Log in and check the new tracker tree (your organisation structure).
If any of your data has errors, please notify us .
company, flexibility, https, migration, nested set, roles, secure, support, trackers, update
We’re performing infrastructural changes this coming Thursday at 5PM Brussels time (what time is that for you?). TrackMyPeople will be unavailable for approximately 1 hour while we make some upgrades to our service infrastructure as well as update the system.
As our service userbase is constantly growing, the architecture of the trackmypeople system quickly showed us some features were really hard to implement. To make sure we can develop/create new functionality faster, we decided to refactor, to make the system more flexible.
Some of the features you can expect in the new version (online after tomorrows update)
- Custom Organisation Structure (departements, multiple projects…)
- Multiple Projects per User
- Custom Permissions & Roles
- Seperate secured backend
See you tomorrow.
