As everybody should know by now, Google is a must to have implemented on your site. This is why we have integrated a Google Map for companies (and previously Google OpenId login).

You can find your company by looking up the address or by double clicking on the map. Once the location is saved, you can see the result in the overview of your company.

In the future there will be a company overview with all your companies located on one big map.

We’re always open for interesting user suggestions and to prove it, here are some of the new features that have just been put online, all suggested by some of our users.

Dashboard & Tracker Tree Tracking

Suggested by: sebastian chedal

You’ll note a new start icon, or in case you’re already tracking, a switch icon, before the tracker’s name in the small overviews on your dashboard.

Similarly, on your tracker tree you’ll find a new context menu option by clicking on the tracker row, to start tracking for that tracker or to stop the current block and start tracking for the selected tracker.

Note that you won’t have the option to add a description. If you want to do that you have to use the old way & click the stop icon in the inline timer.

Printer-friendly Weekly Time Entry View and Export to Excel

As suggested by admasterbill, we’ve added a style/layout specific for the printing of the weekly time entry view

and an icon to export the table to excel.

Extra Info Fields on Company Edit

To allow you to add more information to your Companies, we’ve added some extra fields on the Address form, as suggested by Murray Wilson. The new fields being: Zipcode, City and State.

Easily see Who’s Working on What & Making your Users Stop Tracking

Jan Sequens requested to be able to easily see which users were tracking at a given time and stop blocks for his ‘managed’ users, in case they forgot to stop at the end of the day for example. So we’ve implemented a small indicator on the user list allowing you to do just that!

The users with a red dot in front of their name are currently tracking

while the ones with a gray dot are currently not tracking, at least not for one of your reportable trackers.
Clicking the dot will take you to the edit page for the current block, but only if you’re able to edit the block.

As you can see, the tooltip will tell you which tracker they are working for. The tabular view also provides this information, plus it does so more accurately now. As Jan Sequens pointed out: an open block would be shown on the tabular view, but with a zero-total. We’ve improved this as well.

If you refresh the page, you’ll see the totals change since the block is running.

If you are an active trackmypeople user you will notice we change alot of things, on a daily base. For those of you who did not notice those changes, a brief summary :

User Profile : Edit / Information : We totally reworked this functionality. You can now easily update your (and your employees/contractors) profile with some advanced validation/error correction

Tracker Edit / Information : Editing trackers (can be companies/departements/tasks or projects) never was this easy. Use one of the information tabs to get more information about a tracker

Set your project (tracker) color. Each use can now assign his own color. These colors will be used when browsing through the calendar interface

Today we updated the TrackMyPeople system. You'll note this immediately when you log in.

The backend part of the site has been seperated from the public (main) content and is totally secured.

PLEASE NOTE: The URL for the backend has changed as well to https://secure.trackmypeople.com, so you need to update your widget (all OS's), which will connect to the new URL.

The system has been refactored to allow greater flexibilty. This way it is (will be) possible to:

nest trackers (previously known as projects and companies)

track time for any tracker, meaning you can also track time for a company

assign multiple (and soon custom) roles per tracker per user; detailed definition and permission explanation will follow soon

new (predefined) role types: employee, reporter (soon also freelancer, contracter, client, etc…)

We also migrated all current projects and companies to this new tracker system. The attendance project is no longer shared, but personalised. Each user now has a default tracker, which we guessed during the migration process.

We followed these rules:

users with a single company (owned or member) have this company as default tracker.

users with multiple companies now have a new Task named "Attendance"

users without any companies or projects also have this new task

We migrated all attendance block as well (to match these new trackers). Log in and check the new tracker tree (your organisation structure).

If any of your data has errors, please notify us .

We’re performing infrastructural changes this coming Thursday at 5PM Brussels time (what time is that for you?). TrackMyPeople will be unavailable for approximately 1 hour while we make some upgrades to our service infrastructure as well as update the system.

As our service userbase is constantly growing, the architecture of the trackmypeople system quickly showed us some features were really hard to implement. To make sure we can develop/create new functionality faster, we decided to refactor, to make the system more flexible.

Some of the features you can expect in the new version (online after tomorrows update)

Custom Organisation Structure (departements, multiple projects…)

Multiple Projects per User

Custom Permissions & Roles

Seperate secured backend

See you tomorrow.

Goto a User Calendar (requested feature)

See those 2 buttons at the start of each user line ? Use these buttons to instantly go to that user’s calendar. Note that this functionality is only for managers/company owners, so if you are using trackmypeople as a freelancer (single user), you won’t see these buttons.

Improved distinction “My Timesheet” and “Reports”

The “My Timesheet” section only holds personal data. If you are company owner or project manager you will have a “Report” section where you can get an overview of all your assigned user timeblocks.

Just on top of the day or week calendar on the report page you have a dropdown of related users/employees. Use this to switch the view to the users view.

Switch to “Today” (requested feature)

We added a small button just between the go forward / backward buttons. Using this button your calendar will switch to today.

More features coming soon…
